THE FUTURE OF OAKURAWairau Estate
Nestled beneath the Kaitake Ranges lies an exciting vision for the future of Oakura. A staged, long-term urban development plan created by top local experts. Wairau Estate emphasises environmental regeneration, modern lifestyles and community values.
The Future of Oakura
The Wairau Estate urban development plan offers many benefits to the Oakura community. Our vision encapsulates unparalleled lifestyle options, an environmental plan with a QEII covenant, infrastructure and public traffic improvements, an equestrian park and much more.
Based on the historic uptake of new sections for residential development at Oakura, the Wairau Estate vision represents a 30-40 year (inter-generational) development plan for the area. Following a lengthy period of detailed technical investigation and assessment of the 58ha site we are now ready to introduce the Wairau Estate urban development plan to the public.
This website has been created for the purpose of providing information to the residents of Oakura about the Wairau Estate proposal prior to the lodgement of a Private Plan Change Request with the New Plymouth District Council pursuant to the Resource Management Act 1991
Minutes from Oakura village by the corner of SH 45 and Wairau Road, a tract of land stretching towards the Kaitake Ranges.
The vision for Wairau Estate offers a wide range of modern and active lifestyle choices that cater for all age groups.
Wairau Estate’s natural areas would be conserved and expanded providing accessible natural spaces for all.
Quality infrastructure would make Wairau Estate a community asset with benefits such as a main road traffic upgrade.
